THE FOUNDER

Dr Najmul Hussein Rassool is the founder and chief executive officer of “SOLIDARITY & HUMAN DEVELOPMENT CO. LTD.” He has been involved in Islamic and social activities since his youth. He emanates from an accounting background and has more than 45 years of experience in the same field. Since the last 16 years he has focussed his attention to the Islamic finance industry.

His brief profile is as follows:

  • Dr Najmul is a freelance Business Management/Islamic Finance Consultant. He is the CEO of International Islamic Financial Services Ltd, a Mauritius-based company.
  • He is also a researcher, product developer and trainer in Islamic Banking & Finance.
  • He worked as a Product Development Specialist in Islamic Finance for a conglomerate in Mauritius and was involved in structuring Islamic Finance products for both onshore & offshore sectors.
  • He acted as Project Manager for the setting up of an Islamic Banking window for Bank of Maldives and designed its products. He delivered intensive training to the bank’s management and staff.
  • He lectured on Islamic Banking & Finance at the University of Technology Mauritius.
  • He has authored a few articles and book chapters that were published internationally.

He holds the following qualifications and certifications:

  1. PhD in Islamic Banking & Finance with Al-Madinah International University, Malaysia
  2. Certified Shariah Adviser & Auditor (CSAA) from AAOIFI, Bahrain
  3. Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) from INCEIF, Bank Negara, Malaysia
  4. Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA) from AAOIFI, Bahrain
  5. MBA in Finance from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa
  6. Post-Graduate Diploma in Economic Principles from the University of London

OBJECTS AND CAPACITY

Objective One

To collect Zakaat and other Islamic social funds, donations, CSR for distribution to the poor and needy in the Indian Ocean region.

Objective Two

To provide Food and Shelter to the poor and needy in the Indian Ocean region.

Objective Three

To cater for the Training and Educational development of the poor and needy in the Indian Ocean region.

Objective Four

To use Zakaat and other Islamic Social Funds to build sustainable projects for the poor and needy in the Indian Ocean region.

Objective Five

To promote Waqf Projects (Water Wells, Musjids, Educational Institutions, and other Welfare Projects) to benefit the poor and needy in the Indian Ocean region.

Objective Six

To raise Funds and Provide Relief for International Natural Disasters.

And generally, do all such other things as are incidental or connected with any of the above objects, or conducive to the attainment thereof, and the Company shall have, for the furtherance of these objects, full rights, powers, and privileges of a natural person without any limitation.
